Just a quick response to the questions raised.
As you are all aware Etesia have never be prepared to manufacture a roller mower, for lots of reasons. However the UK market kept asking, so eventually I made the decision to look into roller possibilities. Our experteise as a company does not include roller design, so we have been working with a well known British manufacturer to perfect the roller design and eventually the production. These things can take a long time to get right, design, prototypes, and eventually build. All of which is being done around our partners internal growing business.
As Neal said we now have a delivery date, which is next week.
As for the price, why is it so expensive, the main reason is the roller, it is not a hollow tube as in the traditional makes you know, this is a solid steel bar, with threaded ends for the bearings, the roller design is such that you will not need to have it on your machine all day, as is the case today with a dedicated roller mower, this design will last for years and can be used on more than one mower. So if you look at it from that point of view the price is very cost effective.
Most roller mowers are changed every 3 years, and in some cases more often, Etesia rotary mowers are nearer 10 years, as pointed out by a number of users to this site. The roller is designed to last the life of our mower and probably longer. One final point is the roller is nearer 16kg not 9 as mentioned below, and yes it will be at Saltex 2015

Thanks for the reply Les, it is nice to be given information on why it costs so much as one doesn't always realise the work that goes into manufacturing what is on the surface a steel cylinder!
Is there a warranty available on the roller element?
