Ebay and Paypal negative feedback

We have discussed on here accepting credit cards and Paypal, I came across this article from a lady in the north of England. Has anyone had a similar unsatisfactory experience with Ebay or paypal? The reason I ask is that last year I sold a few boot beetles on ebay as a private seller but have been thinking of selling some other products on there for Christmas and the winter (bootscrapers and fire baskets). Last year things went okay and there were no problems. It is what happens when problems arise that concerns me, I am concerned by this ladys' experience and the response from ebay and paypal. Here is the link to the article ebay and paypal problems

With my old business I used to sell thousands of pounds worth of stuff via eBay and never had a problem with Paypal etc.

I think the article you read is not a common occurance.

Ok, I occasionally had the occasional numpty, but no more hassle than I have as a gardener.
  • The writer's rant is a drawn-out and boring one, dramatised articulately and OTT for my liking.

It's down to the buyer being a pratt at the end of the day. £134 on that case is not a lot. You take your chances with a huge corporation that doesn't have the means to do in-depth examination of an individual case in many instances.

I've never lost any money through using paypal, roughly 250 ebay transactions in my time. Had two people decide they didn't want the items. No loss on my part, just relist them.
  • Agree with you there Paul......... have completed over 1000 Ebay/paypal transactions and never had any problems. Its always possible that Paulines item did actually get damaged in transit or was just faulty...... her feedback was excellent. It would seem an awful lot of effort deliberately breaking the item and then raising a paypal dispute........ think I'd have just relisted the thing and sold it on.
