I would have thought that a gardening team is an important part of the infrastructure if you have a high profile and entertain a lot? Another example of how dispensable garden services are perceived to be in times of financial pressure. "The chief gardener at Beckingham palace is now also their chauffeur and they also sacked a housekeeper to replace her with two "cost efficient" foreign staff.     Maybe they will get in outside contractors for the gardening. Aparently it is more cost efective.
