Could this means of dealing with snow work here ?

News item from the US on how one Town is dealing with clearing snow this Winter:

"The council is looking to increase the time residents have to remove snow from their sidewalks, but also increase the fee if residents don't remove snow.

Currently residents of the 300-plus homes municipality have 12 hours to clear their sidewalks of snow and ice after the snowfalls ends. The change would extend that time to 24 hours. The fine for not doing so is being proposed to increase from $25 to $100."

Given the US propensity to sue someone, I'm surprised and pleased.

Perhaps if we didn't have silly tabloid reportinfg scaring everyone off for no reason....

Would it work here...?
