Contract quote

Hi there this is my first post, I have just recently started a business and have a few small jobs come in i have the opportunity to put in a quote for maintenance of as assisted living building . There are two areas of lawn i would say about half acre in total, also several borders with newly planted shrubs and herbaceous plants probably another half acre, also some newly planted trees. It has been supposedly maintained by the builders for the first year but they have made a pigs ear of it. The estate have specified certain jobs to be done each month but previously a team has come in one day a month and not appeared untill two months later when everything is overgrown. I propose to do the job myself and think may be enough work for one man two days per week to keep it looking good. What does anyone think

  • i would like to give it the personal touch as the residents themselves pay for the service in their rent. Just trying to work out my rate as i,ve not done this type of quote before. Looking at previous posts I was thinking about £100 per day plus any expences for fertilizers, weed killer lawn feed and waste removal. Does that sound about right.

It is hard to say without photo's of the garden, but two days should be adaquate.
  • I agree with Paul. I have some sites with twice this much grass. I would imagine you budget 2-3 hours for the grass per fortnightly visit and the same for each hard areas and borders, so a day in total.

If you can't do things in this time you probably need to upgrade your equipment to bring you up to the level required for commercial work.

Also, £100 a day is pennies. You must charge a decent labour rate, add travel time, waste removal, chemicals and fuel for machinery.

However, I think charging the equivalent of £40 per resident per quarter is a bit too much from what I have seen on 15-20 sites and you'll probably not win the work at that.
