I realise that this suggestion won't help you on this occasion (unless you can secure a chain around the concrete stub?) but it's worth bearing in mind one of these post pullers for future post removal. Very quick and also retains the original sized hole too.
Anyone got some TNT !

If its the last post it's probably got whatever concrete was left at the end of the job. From the photo it looks like there is enough of the post to fix a strop to. Setup a long lever (a 10 ft 4x4in post is good) and build a fulcrum from a block or two or wood and see whether it is leverable.
Sometimes there is no option but to do it the hard way though.
