Carriage to New York

I have just had an enquiry for a large

wedding arch from a potential customer in New York. It is quite a large item weight about 200kg from memory every time I have had similar enquiries the carriage costs have been prohibitive. Has anyone got any suggestions?Shelford wedding arch

  • Not many options - if they want that one courier or hand luggage which ever is cheaper - longer term, make them so they pack into a small box, find someone to sell your stuff in the US and send a crate over at a time.
  • They are made in sections but the last enquiry I had from the states for one meant hiring a container. I had another enquiry again from the states for my largest obelisk and offered to send the cutting list and drawings over for a local metal worker to make but nothing happened. I just wondered if anyone on here had any experience in moving large objects across the Atlantic at a relatively reasonable cost

How about trying to get a "piggy back ride" in a container. A mate of mine imports and exports tractors ( vintage and modern) from /to Europe and the States. It may be possible to get this in to and perhaps pay a percentage of the cost ( not sure what that is or how often he moves kit). He's in your area ( Royston Cambs)..look at www.peppertractors.co.uk ( Tom Pepper). Just an idea!!
  • Hi David and Rowly.
I have followed up your suggestions and spoken to the gentleman concerned.
Thanks for your help, I will let you know how it goes.
