Can anyone recommend a decent camera that will give results which are of high enough quality to put on a website and on marketing literature? I dont want to spend too much but at the same time i dont want something that is not fit for purpose. Oh and it must be easy to use as i am a photographic numpty.

A friend of mine who is a part time professional photographer is doing some initial photos for me in one garden i maintain but i need a camera i can take to work for before and after shots as she obviously cant follow me about every day.

Thanks.

  • Still using a Cannon 350D is perfectly good enough you can pick them up for very little, the problem is finding one with a decent lens. Look out for good EOS compatible Sigmas...you'll loose functionality but gain in quality, for very little £££s. That's as far as it goes, the rest is down to experience, knowledge and a good eye, without which a mobile phone will produce the same results.

  • I use a panasonic lumix dmc,its very easy too use and gives mind blowing quality, check them out on amazon.

Thanks for all your suggestions. My mobile phone camera is useless as its so scratched. I dont own an iphone or ipad however my wife says i can borrow her Canon ixus50 which is quite a few years old. I will have to check it out to see if its good enough - i doubt it!

Thanks Rhianne for your really useful advice re its what you do with it. I have a picasa account but have'nt put any pics on it yet. The good thing about picasa is that i can transfer the image to the web page very easily as my website is through GBBO (google sites). Thats another story.

  • Really any low quality digital camera will do. Web images will look very good even as low as 100DPI so a good camera is not worth the money just for that. You only need to spend more than 50 quid if you want to do some photography for printing

  • For serious cameraphone overkill, check out the new Nokia 808 PureView, which comes with a 41 megapixel camera! Whether the sensor and light handling are up to that challenge, we shall see...  In the meantime, I'll stick with my Blackberry/Ixus combo.
