Biggest loan/cost for your business.

one of my biggest costs is my vehicle loan , which i put down to business and spread over 2-3 yrs.   i would never buy a new vehicle ever !!
my bank manager told me '' new cars are the biggest waste of money ever' !!    he had a new car every 3 yrs even when retired and died at age 83.

apart from fuel and mortgage this is my 'highest fixed cost'  plus interest every month  £246.   what is yours??

you may be surprised....or saddened

  • Van loan also
  • fuel and insurance i own everything i have
  • We average £550 - £650 per month on fuel alone its our biggest cost bar Wages for the lads which is £1250 per week plus of course £000.00's in materials
    • My biggest outgoing is wages then one of vans. Other one I own outright. I got both used just because I weigh up my situation and decide that's best for me and my business. However we also have a brand new Audi a1 which is my wifes. She has always driven new cars and I reckon she will continue to. I personally think it's bonkers!!

i dont see what the problem is of having a new van , ? i have said repeatedly the benefits of it 1 a new van2 no mot
      3 warranty 3 years
4 your the first owner so you know where it comes from
      5more reliable
the volkswagon caddy costs me £200 a month over 3 years lease
as i have said i have owned various vehicles , 2 vauxhall combos a ford transit a ford courier , and have had bad luck with them all from the begining
when the lease is over i either buy the van off volkswagon i will owe about 4k or trade it in and get a new one .
if i decide to buy it i will have a 3 year old van with only about 20thousand miles on the clock which will be worth more than 4k
so try it first before you critisize it
this is the only vehicle i own and is economical and so far after nearly 2 years i have had not ONE thing go wrong surely that is peice of mind !!
so you dont have to be worried when you get up in the morning you can get to work ..
and the tax benefits out weigh the negatives every time ..
  • my biggest expence is insurances i have van insurance and liability cover
  • My staff, they cost me a fortune eveytime they cock something up or run over budget! Only joking, Wages (Employers NI is a lot as wel, always surprises me), Fuel, Fleet Insurance, Public liability and employee liability, Yard rent, Capial investment in plant and machinery and repairs to machinery. My tool mechanic is on speed dial!

  • As a Nursery, our biggest costs are usually the land that we work from.

In our previous business, our interest-only commercial mortgage was £3,200 per month.

Now for our new Nursery, twice the size of our previous one, we pay £400 per month rent, which is fixed for the next 4 years.
