That's not an easy one Mel. Avoid the cheap ones, they are horribly sweaty. We have found a good set of his viz padded jackets and trousers are best. You still sweat in them but they are much more comfortable. Each of us probably replace the jacket every season, but the trousers can last ages. Also, we are moving to wearing rigger boots - so comfortable, and easy to change in and out of 🙂
Thanks for this, good idea with the rigger boots we need to be able to slip them off easily too.
Husqvarna rain jacket £48 fr jones
100% waterproof quite a few vents to....
Helly Hansen Work wear, has been our favouites, not cheap but comfy, durable, breathable. We get them from ALS and they always do us a good deal.
We like the Helly Hansen Work Wear too
I am following this with interest. For years I've got by with cheap and cheerful waterproofs and they are sweaty! I've shied away from paying top dollar as I tend to rip them when hedgecutting or doing clearances. If I thought they would last, then I'd definately be interested in buying quality.
The waterproof coats we use are HH Aker jackets, 2 years on, no rips or tears, waterproof, and mine smells like a wet dog!. Using them to do lots of hedges and trees!
Thanks gang, as luck would have it we found a great deal on coats by HH on website - https://www.engineeringagencies.co.uk/
ordered an XL each see how we get on size wise. I’ll post back on manoeuvrability and sweat-o-meter!
We are whimps... and don't work in the rain... :) It doesnt do the gardens any good with us tramping around in our boots, and it is yucky after a few hours.... life is too short :)
Its actually only works out to about a dozen complete days a year ... and is a welcome rest - though this week looks pretty bad!!
Me neither, tried it the other day and it was no fun at all, nor if it is too hot, I don't cut hedges when it's too windy, as it makes a mess. Often the best conditions are at the weekend so am perfectly happy to crack on then if the going is good.
