  • Haha this sounds a bit like "are there any single lady gardeners out there that want to hook up?"

    :o)

29 with a long term burd, working sole trader using whatever equipment I need to maximise profits and increase efficiency. I tend to work 5 days, 8-4, even in summer as my personal/social life is VERY important to me. Winter I am doing about 3-4 days average, same hours, and earn enough to be quite happy without touting for more work.
  • 46 years old, 3 grown up kids, youngest is 16, starting to creak a little lately,
used to work 5 days 8-5 until a few years ago, developed throat cancer and now I cant do as much,
working 4 days with a labourer, social time very important to me also, I play golf at least once week, and I have 2 motorbikes.
  • I certainly worked harder as I got older, but I only charged in line with material price increases . Having read what I wrote previously this doesn't apply to the time when I was in the antique business.
Regarding finding a partner, I think you must get a move on. The myth that young girls find older men attractive
only applies to rich men.The only experience I can quote from is personal, I was all most 29 & I was best man at my best friends wedding, the brides younger sister was the bridesmaid, she was 17 & beautiful as all young girls are. I had no experience with girls being very shy, I couldn't think what to say to them. I found out later the bridesmaid had been instructed to look after me as I was shy, so it was suggested that we would go to the couples home & collect something. I took the opportunity to ask for a date, which she accepted. We have been together 54yrs on the 8th of December.

  • Totally agree, everyone wants to earn a decent wage but IMO it has to be balanced against working yourself into an early grave! I work to live, not live to work!, lifes too short ;-)
No regular aches or pains yet, have always been pretty fit.

Age 41, 3 kids with ex-wife, eldest is 14, youngest just turned 10, currently living with girlfriend of 4 yrs. Soletrader with occasional help from my brother with the one off bigger, labour intensive jobs.

  • Age 42 with 2 year old and 5 year old thought I worked long hard hours before but with children my day is endless! Husband is a workaholic and hopefully not into grave we work more hours now husband 70Plus and me 24-7. We have had a financial difficult year so with children you have to work harder hopefully this will change better year for 2011 I enjoy working for myself though I do get a buzz.
  • I`m 30, just got married this year, no pan lids just yet!

Work 6 days a week, or 7 if I need too, but also have a day off if i want.

Been a groundsman, greenkeeper and gardener since I was 16, enjoy being outside, did 6 months in an office when I came back from Oz in 2005, never again, although I did meet my wife in said office!

    Every cloud...
  • I'm 47 and feel it today :)
Married with two kids both away at University now.
6 days a week in the summer - 5 days a week over the winter.
Happy in work and life :)
  • PRO
43 married with a daughter who's two next week.

Try to work hard five days a five days a week and have the weekends off.

Also try and only take on work I enjoy as I've had too many years being miserable at work.
  • 39, 2 boys from my ex 11 and 2 yrs. working long hours has never bothered me as i love the job and the enjoyment i get out of it, I do feel it in my joints now as it takes abit longer getting up when on my knees planting or weeding lol.
  • 26, married, homeowner. Work 5 days, 6 if necessary, 6.5 very rarely. Usually start first light until last. I enjoy my work but find it gets on top of me and intrudes on personal life if I don't keep it in check. I have 2 guys who work with me and use subcontractors where possible to take the pressure off.
