I have used a Hayter Harrier Pro for the last 12 years and I swap it every 2 years (so I get something back when I sell them). Sadly I've not settled with the new model which I bought last May. It has real issues with grass/dirt building up in areas where you can't access without unbolting covers, also the Honda engine on my current machine doesn't start anywher near as easilly as the old B&S. Walk pace is too quick for longer grass even with update, so in longer grass you get poor pick up meaning a second pass is necessary. I also don't like the extra weight that the BBC added.
Dirt build up problems occur on underside of the plastic (top) cover for the height adjustment merchanism and on the the top surface of the plastic cover in the cutting deck which protects the center of cutting deck. This plastic cover has a circular 1" 'gutter' which quickly fills up with grass and dirt. To get rid of the build up you need to 1. Disconnect the throttle cable and remove the top cover. 2. Tilt the machine and remove the blade and metal disc, then unbolt and remove the plastic cover. Once the 2 covers are off you can get rid of the build up and also clear debris from around the drive belts.
So, what to replace the Hater with. I do about 20 small lawns a week varying in size from 100m2 to 500m2. I have been steered towards the Masport Rororola or Stiga Twinclip 50. Any thoughts as to whether I'm looking in the right area? Both a similar price to Hayter.

David, don't buy Masport - we had one -terrible build quality.
Stiga - nice to use - useless in wet or even a heavy dew.
Option - Toro prostripe same as Hayter 56 pro but with Kawasaki engine and 3 speed box but obviously heavy.
Hope that helps
Thanks for response, I think a 56 would be too big for most of my gardens/work. The search continues.
How much for the hayter Pro buddy??? 🤣🤣🤣
I will put it on EBay when I find a suitable replacement.
I would keep hold of it personally mate.
Sometimes I think we ask too much of our mowers. Especially when grass collection and a roller is required. I don't think many such mowers will collect 'long grass' on one pass, due to the inherent design of 'throwing' the grass over the roller.
My motto has always been 'there's a tool for every job' and this goes for mowers too. We find the Hayter 56 gives a better cut and is a more efficient 'picker upper'.
I cant comment on the dirt build up problem you are having David. Our two 48's are 3+ years old and we have not encountered the problem you mention.
Thanks for response. I loved my old 48's they were great, reliable, durable and didn't have the BBC and same 'new' deck design so didn't have the dirt build up issue.
The Atco Liner 19" may be worth a look, we are on our second after I destroyed the engine on the first by hitting a hidden metal pole - lucklily I did it! It had given us 3 good years and we have bought our second to replace it. They are powered by the Briggs and Stratton engine.
Thanks, that was one of the options the STIGA people suggested as the twinclip 50 SVE I was looking at has the IStart B&S engine and, nice as an electric start is, if it fails it is nice to have an alternate method of starting the machine. Anyway the easystart engines are just that (easy to start).
David, the Atco is the same as the Stiga or Mountfield equivalent models ( same company / factory ) as I said in my previous reply to you the wet collection is very poor.
