Storing Seed/Fert in plastic buckets.

I'm forever nicking the sides of bags, not quite doing them up correctly as well as not really being able to neatly store bags of seed etc. Would food grade plastic buckets work for storage without shortening the shelf life of the product?

troublesome plant
