Life in France under Covid-19 restrictions

It feels a little like being a time traveller from the future, but here are a few pointers from living in France under the restrictions we currently have in place to fight the Covid-19 virus.

Bars, restaurants and all non-essential shops closed last weekend, this includes horticulture suppliers, and schools closed last Monday as well.

Tght restrictions were introduced on Tuesday limiting the movement of people to prevent anyone circulating and meeting, so that the contamination chain might be broken.

This involves printing off an A4 sheet and filling in your name and address, with a number of options to descibe why you are out in the street.

One of those optiosn allows you to drive to your work place if you can not work from home, but you need to ensure all cleanliness advice is being undertaken, this has put a block on outside work such as landscapers.

And the vast majorty of businesses have now closed down.

Financial support is being put in place to help the self-employed and should be up and running by the end of the month, the finance minister has said no business, however small, will be left behind.

Otherwise all movement is at an absolute minimum, if you go to the shops you have to print off the declaration and ensure it is a proper shop, the police have warned those buying a few items and many have been fined.

The beaches are closed, all parks are closed and some towns have introduced a night time curfew.

The way the morons treating it as a holiday are going here I think we will be on a similar lock down very soon.

Many in France did the same the weekend before last, just like people in the UK did this weekend. That's what brought the tighter rules in, although I think the authorities were aware that just asking people to stay apart wasn't going to work.
