  • Hi, I've used Lindum wildflower turf, here's a pic of it in the first Summer (laid in Spring). Landscapers commented that it looked 'bl**dy rough' when first laid as of course it's full of 'weeds' but I was really pleased with the effect as it grew up. Lots of ragged robin. Don't know how it will fare over time of course as the underlying soil won't be that different to the rest of the lawn.
  • Before I say anything, I must admit we are going to be quite biased. We are Coronet Turf and we can definitely recommend our wildflower meadow turf for your client. It is a much faster more effiecient way of creating a wildflower meadow as the turf "mat" suppresses the invasive weeds that you don't want. the balance of seeds provides a succession of flowers through out the flowering season and only needs cutting once at the end of the summer.

A while back we had the Hampshire Branch of the Garden Designers Guild arrive for a tour of our farm where we grow the turf - around 20 people turned up - since then several have either recommended our wildflower turf or have used it in their designs. One of them created a maze so i have uploaded a photo of that too for you.
I have added a few pictures from our portfolio showing how lovely the turf looks when it is flowering. When first laid it doesn't resemble lawn grass but rather can look a little rough as it is full of wild flowers and non invasive grasses, however, once it starts to grow this appearance quickly changes.

We have a video on our website that shows the turf growing using timelapse photography to which you could direct your client as this would give them a good overiew of what to expect.

We also have a Blog with several case studies that show the wildflower meadow turf in all its glory. you can find it at www.wildflowerturf.co.uk. For more information please do not hesiate to call us and we will be happy to help.
  • Thanks Fraser! it's being mown and raked up this week so will be interesting to see how it fares over the next year.

  • Have a look at www.meadowmat.co.uk currently exhibiting at Glee and Malvern. A new small company passionate about wildflower turf. They will grow to what you want. If you have a wet garden, they will produce wildflowers for that enviroment, or a dry one, or shady.
I think the cost may be slightly higher than others, but i believe you get what you pay for, rather than a standard mix.
  • I've seen the wildflower mat we're growing at Q Lawns. Loads of different species in it and it's looking really healthy. I would imagine it'll be a real picture next spring/summer
