Website question?

Hi

This winter I plan an overhaul on my current Premier Lawns website.

I plan on having 3 or 4 different front pages depending on seasons and my marketing strategies for any given time of year.

I'm wondering has anyone else tried this approach?

  • Assuming you have some spare time it would be worth looking at "split testing". To be implemented at the same time.

    Hi Richard

Would you mind explaining that a bit more please?

  • Yeap please expand on split testing please Richard

  • Hi robbie according to my seo and website understanding no ! Do not do this when you build a new page say it takes a day to built, so it looks amazing. when you make a page live to the world google, bing, yahoo etc.... search for your web page, over time a combo of organic traffic and content relevant information starts to rank your page and starts appearing on the search keywords you want, if you take the page down and it stopped being found it loses its rank, say you took your website offline for two months and did nothing to it you would struggle to find it.

you can however change the content of the pages i know google likes this and increases rank, the key is = little tweaks good , major changes not a good idea, hope that help send me a message on FB if you need more info.

  • Spot on advice from Benjamin. The strength of a web page is something that takes time to build. A web page gets stronger everytime its viewed or hit and also gains strength by the amount of time its live on the internet. Making major changes to a web page removes the pages accrued history and decreases its SEO strength

  • No idea what this twit is talking about but split testing well established technique and if you set up a Google account you'll see all the info needed to do the basics but you'll need to read third party info to get the best out of it.

No idea what Robbie and Steve are talking about and I doubt that they do either - bloke down the pub stuff. It would be helpful if people read and comprehended from the beginning of threads rather than just jump in with mundane twaddle.

But perhaps https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zrzMhU_4m-g this will help you both!?

  • I can only speak from my own experience Richard. I've built and maintained a website that gets 250-400 hits a day. I dont know if this is an impressive number of hits but its certainly enough activity to keep London Stone extremely busy. I work very closely with my SEO people and tbh I have not heard of split testing (I will ask them about it tommorow). Myself and Benjamin both gave a reasonable explanation to back up our opinions. Maybe you could do the same and give us some concise information about split testing and an example of how its been succesful for you. I am always interested in expanding my knowledge of anything to do with SEO and would genuinley like to hear about it
    Steve

  • Is it Phil? Sorry but I can't be bothered these days being "nice" on forums people either take info and decide if it is of use to them or they can carry on regardless, I no longer care. No Steve your stats are good, similar to ours...but I've already replied re. split testing. The info is there and laid out far better than I can or have time for. Thanks Mick old forum popcorn post reminds me why I don't bother taking part in forums much, damned if you do...
