Van interior protection

Morning guys and girls

I'm buying a new van shortly and as I have put put the rubbish in the back, I want to get the inside properly protected against the moisture and damp. Currently my existing van has a ply lined floor and that's painted with garage floor paint, it works fine but was wondering what others use?

Thanks

I use stable matting that I seal the gaps with tigerseal, but you have to use more screws to screw it down than you think.

  • I always have a Line –x spray liner. I have had this done with every Hilux I have had, all eight of them. So I have long experience of just how good it is. Every square inch of panel is thus protected. No chance of dirt or moisture getting in between like with ply lining, rubber mats or similar solutions.

All surfaces are prepared, keyed and the coating is sprayed on. It never chips, tears or lifts – ever. It is very tough and looks very good also.

  • I laid ply then bought rubber sheet on a roll- in this case textures like chequerplate.  Works fine for me, dearer than paint but harder wearing.

  • Rubber sheet on a roll laid on top of the ply. If you buy a decent thickness it needs no fixing, it's own weight stops it moving. Top tip we cut it so that it's wider than the floor so rises up the sides of the van by around 4 to 6 inches, stops moisture getting underneath it

  • Some great ideas here. I feel a bit trampy now with my battered ply flooring. I'm going to check out this rubber roll stuff, how thick should I be looking for and any ideas of a supplier?

    • Tony, be aware that some suppliers are unreliable. I've just found the invoice for ours from Coruba unit 30 Purdeys way. Purdeys industrial estate. Rockford SS4 1ND Tel 0845 1301375. Email sales@coruba.co.uk

We bought 1continuos sheet 3mm thick 5mt long 2mt wide. The product code is S-110-030-00-194 it was £160 plus vat Inc carriage last year. It covered the floor of a long wheelbase Ducati with a small amount left over. Delivery was quick great company to deal with. Hope that helps!

      • Thanks for taking the time, Peter. I'll look into this.

  • I would just add that a rotary roof vent is a good idea for ventilation and for keeping down condensation.

  • Hi guys

Sorry for late reply, totally forgot to check this post.

Had an idea put to me about liquid rubber and that it is quite tough?? Any one had experience of using it?

I've heard of line x spray, but I'd have to get my van over to the UK from Jersey and I really can't do that as I'm too busy.

    Many thanks again.
