From my experiance, turf is generally variable in quality depending on whether conditions.
Best way to be assured you have what is required, is to ask for a free sample to be posted to you along with a TGA (turfgrass Growers Association) qulaity certificte.
This tells the reader what the turf is, but more importantly, tells the turf grower to get the best he can for you.
All turf growers should be able to supply a free sample.
Small quanities will be expensive compared to 2 pallets or more.
I purchase it through a local supplier and its always excellent quality, cut fresh and looks stunning from day one especially if you go the extra mile and lay it alternate rows start at the top then the bottom you get the lines in it so when the customer returns home from work it looks very impressive

Inturf is a local supplier which has been recommended http://www.inturf.com/stockists/
They do like their grass around York!
They have national delivery, and all turf is cut to order. To be honest they are the dogs undercarriage of turf growers and suppliers!
