Tips on winning business to business contracts

Hello All
I am a garden designer working with domestic clients in Kent, building a good local reputation and growing the business. I want to start a commercial side to the business designing gardens for new developments, renovations etc. I would like to work with architects, developers, builders. I'm trying to research the possibilities and if there is a need or market for it? I have a hunch that most developers see gardens as an area that will erode their profit margins and would rather leave it to the property owner/buyer is this true ? are there some that see the added value in what we have to offer and how do you find them ? Do you have any experience of this or words of wisdom good or bad? Lots of questions here be grateful for any help. Many Thanks Lisa

  • Hi Lisa I would think you are right in most cases developers look at gardens as an extra cost which is not wanted. In their minds this space is better covered with bricks and mortar. Interior decorating gets short shrift also, just a quick once over in a new build, enough to get it sold.

I have done subbying for play park builders. They might suit your commercial needs a bit??

  • Hi Lisa
Developers use designers where we are, we work with designers on lots of new build flats all sorts of developments.
Give us a bell if you would like a chat chris 07912795381
  • Hi Chris Music to my ears ! would a brief chat tomorrow afternoon be ok ?

Most new builds round here is a 6 foot fence all around and then just grass. The larger houses might have a shrub (usually a buddleja) in the middle of the lawn and a border around one seemingly random side.

  • He He I hope I can improve on that !!

Hi Lisa sorry if I came across a bit negative. Just my experience of developers and glad to hear they're not all the same! I was thinking of planting schemes for play parks and surrounding areas.
