Yeah sadly its so true theses days
someone I know tried to kill himself last weekend whilst posting comments on facebook at the same time, a lot of people were looking in and seeing the posts on what was happening and luckily the police found him before it was too late
he had put a hose pipe on the exhaust and into the car, he was using his mobile phone to get an internet connection so I can only think they tracked him off the mobile phone
So true, reckon it's that current sense of powerlessness, an inability to change things for the better that probably affects older men more than most.
Could be a generational thing, a legacy of the way we were brought up, I guess, where men were always expected to take control, and to not do so was considered failure.
That said, suicide rates generally have always increased during periods of economic austerity; the Great Depression was named as such for good reason.
Historically, Greece has had one of the lowest suicide rates in the world. Not now, it's rising alarmingly, and working age men in particular are looking for the early exit.
pressures - people have lost there way , materialistic ........ loving things NOT people.
its all wrong ...... your bodys a temple (and your mind) , tell me im wrong ! repsect it or face consequences.
i wont bring religion into it as we all have views , but most non-carnal things ie 'spirit' make sense.

The reality is that there are a lot of people at breaking point, struggling to make ends meet, to feed their kids and keep a roof over their heads. Women tend to discuss these things with friends, men less so. It helps to talk & to discover that you are not alone, that is why forums such as LJN are so important. Admitting you have a problem is a scary thing to do, in my job I meet people in that situation every day but there is always a way forward, sometimes you just need someone else to help you see it. The following verse by Helen Steiner Rice often sums up the situation.
Rest and relax and grow stronger ...
Let go and let others share your load.
Your work is not finished or ended ...
You've just come to a bend in the road
