Seatbelt pretensioners

My van seatbelt pre-tensioners fired this afternoon for no apparent reason. Apparently, after speaking to the Peugeot garage, the van ‘thinks’ it has been in an accident as this is when these items would normally go off. The seatbelts are now like banjo strings. What was worse was the knowledge that the airbag may go off at any moment which makes one a tad nervous when they have to undertake a lengthy journey home.I'm not looking forward to the repair cost either...

  • I've been raking about online and found a few people saying about the problem with wiring connection beneath the seats. Quite a common problem with Peugeots apparently.

I'm going to see an auto-electrician tomorrow so fingers crossed.

Their must be an electrical fault to signal to the seat belts that there hs been an accident refitting with replacements they might go off again
someone i knew had similar fault on peugeot loose connection of wiring underseat.

Get electrical fault sorted first .

dangerous things to mess about with if you dont know what you are doing i should think,

try an auto electricion for advice, good luck
  • The problem is now fixed.
I was quoted £550 to replace the seatbelts from an independant garage (the belts were £200 a piece ex VAT) but my fiancee's dad and I took the existing belts out, removed the electrical connection that led to the spent pyro unit and hey presto the seatbelts work again. It took us all of half an hour...
  • Maybe next time. There's still life in my old dog yet (touch digital wood)
