Round up pro

Hi just have a few questions about round up pro.

I only used it for the first time the other day so im not too clued up on it.

1) How long does it take to take effect on the weeds? Does it kill the root first?

I applied some diluted round up to some weeds two days ago and as yet i cant see any difference in them. Is this normal?

2) For general weeds, how many ml should i dilute into each litre of water?

Any other info would be great, eg walking pace and how long to spray each weed etc

Thanks in advance

  • Hi steve sounds a bit of a worry
have you got your pa1 & 6 ticket if so you should be able to understand how much to use and how to calibrate
also it tells you dilution rates on the labels
  • Yes to both, but seeing as its first time ive used round up pro i thought i would ask about time it takes to work.
The weed killer i used to use worked more or less after two days! So i got a bit worried as i havnt seen any results with round up pro yet. But im sure i will!!!
The booklet supplied does supply ditution figures but i just wanted someone elses opinion who uses it often.
    Thanks

At this time of year it takes around 3 possibly even four weeks to work completely, two in the Sumner. The roots die off last as it is absorbed via the leaves and interrupts the process of photosynthesis.

    I spray it at around 15/20 ml -1 l

You want to wet the leaf surface but not to the point of run off.

    Steve,

What Roundup you using ? Reaction times just extend this time of year.

Our rates are similar to Paul's - we use ~100m/5l in knapsack sprayer.

It can be lower/higher if you exclude certain weeds or want to hit really hard weeds. We also add a blue dye tracer (Rigby Taylor) .5-1cc per 5L. Helps see what you've hit and disappears after a day or two.

We did some spraying over 8 days ago and I was on site today and only now is there sign of die-back.

As Colin says - never hurts to get a second oppinion and when you've done it for while its easy to forget how confusing it all is in the beginning..
  • Don't know about Roundup Pro but standard Glyphosate 360, about 15ml/litre (as already suggested) should do the job. Yes, about a week for visible signs in the summer and up to a month for complete crisp if the weather stays dry. I would only use in dry conditions and there is an opinion that a few drops of washing up liquid added will help with wetting. This has been covered in other discussions I think. I've moved this discussion to the "Weeds" category where you may find more info.
