There are some good commercial graffiti removal liquids around that are non corrosive/distructive which may be an alternative depending on the source of the marks.
We use it to remove paint/spray/crayon graffiti on brick work by spraying on, leaving a while then agitating with a stiff scrubbing brush, then a wash down with a hose or jet wash.
Aggressive use of power washer could destroy the brick face or blow mortar, so always worth a 'out-of-sight' test first ;)
Hi Gary, Thanks for the reply!
Its hard to explain, but the build is around 10 years old. I see a lot of these marks on walls of newish buildings. Usually they are white line running down the bricks. trying to find a chemical which could be used so i can price the job!
That sounds like the salt leaching (efflorescence) from the mortar/bricks. If so, time should resolve it. Jet washing or hosing off may give a short term solution but can actually prolong the issue by diluting the salts even more and starts the whole process off again. Maybe brush off worst with stiff brush, then blow etc ? I know you can get salt neutraliser solution from Wickes et al but have never used it externally.
If not, is it near an overflow pipe (kicthen/bathroom area) - could indicate a minor leak internally staining the brick works.
Perhaps some of the hardscapers/paving guys can pass comments as I know it can be concern for them, especially on some block paviors?
Any pics ?
