Radius cuts.

Would you tackle any radius cuts to paving? If so, what method would you use knowing the spec is 10mm joints only (calibrated 600x600) and there are verticle structures to the entire lengths of 3 out of the 4 perimeter lines. Thanks

  • An image of one perimeter line, also interested in the tool you feel comfortable with.
  • Thanks for your time Paul, im keen to understand how members approach numerous garden installations, its really a case of seeking the right person for the right job.
  • How would you find the exact curved line to stitch drill, making sure there is 10mm required for pointng before the verticle structure? sorry to be a pain.
  • Good man, again thanks for your time.

Thanks for your time, I too over sail the paving or block paving, then cut off whilst bedding is still green
I cut straight long lines with a scaffold board using the medimum size block as a template at each end, the header course drops straight into place.

one of the harder cuts to acheive is if the curved structure is already in place, my method is to use visqueen heavy duty cut as a templte to the same size as the unit , mark, cut, double check the template then mark and cut the unit on a slight angle, works every time with a good 12" saw and blade,

Travertine produces a perfect finsh when cut, a pleasure to use.
  • totally agree with the surface of travertine, to cut the product produces a perfect clean finish, like cutting butter with a knife.

I too use a center pin and a 30m tape for all circlular cuts, i use the visqueen template when the structure will not allow the unit to be placed for marking, saves time, money and produces the right shape for the space.

    Med stone looks lovely,
  • Hi Kerry,

I may be barking up the wrong tree here, but if this work is theoretical at the moment and the curved planters are say 450mm high (and have a bottom), why don't you cheat and raise the planters 1 inch off the ground with some 'hidden' legs and 'under sail' the paving so that you don't have to cut them and can't see the 'crappy' end no matter what angle you look from. This would give you a nice 'shadow line' and somewhere for surface water to go. You could even go the whole hog and stick some 'hidden' lighting under the planter.

  • Hey David

great comment, I was looking to see who fits the bill rather than seeking LJN members knowledge, I understand that ive posted this thread in the wrong forum, it should have been posted under the Hampton court section

    apologies all
