  • Its not a bout being big headed Roy. IF you cant sell yourself then nobody else will be able too. Also a website is not just about saying how great you are. You also need the following info

    1. list of services
    2. Contact info
    3. About us
    4. Company history
    5, Qualifications and accreditations

    etc etc

If you are finding the task daunting, then break it down into small chunks and just make a start. I always find that making a start gets the creative juices flowing

  • ....and please don't include 'Testimonials' - people will just skim over them and nobody believes them anyway.

  • I would disagree with not putting testimonials in, as I find people they make the website more legit. I personally added mine in due to customers asking for them ?

  • Good to see that you are putting up a new website Roy, this is a great way of demonstrating what services you can provide! It is good to look at other peoples websites and to find new ideas, but obviously the content has to be your own and about what you do.

Personally I don't think that testimonials are a bad idea, providing that they are real and genuine. Just be honest about what you do and try and take some photographs of your work, please feel free to contact me if you think I can help at all.

  • Have to agree to differ on this one then Benjamin, they just look and read so false to me.

  • I agree Colin, anyone can get their wife/girlfriend/mum to go and write about how good they were at trimming the hedges.

  • I don't have testimonials on my site, I am dubious when I read: I P Squint said "very hard working, fantastic quality, we will be coming back to get more work done!"... but always provide references if requested/required so that potential customers can contact and discuss similar works directly with past customers. The rest of the site try to keep informative and too the point, and easy to navigate for the young adults and silver surfers alike.
