Masonry paint paw prints

HiAfter 4 weeks of build up, today is my final day on a contemporary garden design and build project in Teignmouth, Devon.Having washed, touched up the paint works etc yesterday in order to point the patio paving today, of which is a light Silver sandstone.Upon my arrival this morning to my horror my clients two "lovely" young cats have definitely left their mark with approx 500 graphite grey paw prints on light paving.Any ideas on how to remove the paw prints which are well and truly impregnated into the sand stone by now as the problem has been left over night and its warm and sunny as I type.My clients don't seem to be at all bothered, but I cant leave my work looking like this as many others will view and pigeon hole Jackson's Landscape Design as a company who leave the clients with a mess and I'm afraid this will not do.Your experience and thoughts are gratefully received.Kerry @ www.JacksonsLandscapeDesign.com

sounds a bloody caper mate, can it be jet washed of ? or oxhalic acid may work mate
  • Hi Kerry

Being sandstone which is porous, I wouldn't recommend a liquid treatment as this could stain, making things worse.

A customer of ours used a sandblasting company to clean a large spill of paint on old York paving. To get to the smaller areas they used a dremmal to get the rest up.

Not sure if this would help on your paving but it came up like new on the York.
  • Thanks fellas I really appreciate your assistance with this matter.

I'll use the offcuts and set about different trials until the matter is resolved, the time scale will be noted and forwarded in my invoice, I'll also make an adjustment within my contracts covering such occurrences for the future.
