Depends on to many variables to give a "going rate" per slab!! .......... how has the site been prepared? Has some sort of compacted hardcore/base been laid and levelled already? What sort of slabs and what's the access like? Will there be a lot of cutting to fit?
No way to give an estimate I'm affraid. I for one never give estimates on per slab or meter squared, too many variables on each job, have to say though I would never lay 2 x 2 slabs on a bed of sharp sand, many would mind you!
In my opinion always lay on a full bed of wet mix.
i gave them an estimate for the job they have tried to lay them their self and got in a mess slabs slope in all directions on a simple path leading to this main area were they tell me it take 66 slabs but i need to go an measure up to make sure it square and level i got a laser level i put a crossed it to check it
will use a sand cement mix to lay them if i do it. they are reckoning on about a £1.00 a slab i told them that it take 3 maybe 4 man days to do it so no way i do it for a pound a slab
£1 a slab!!! really? I don't know your relationship to these people but would suggest that if they are not valued customers to tell them to take a long run into the woods and get lost!
I doubt any of us on here can survive on anything less than £150/day being self employed. Now I can lay slabs well and I can lay them fast but 150 2x2 in a day is pushing it somewhat to say the least

Id probaly say about £400 to do it, do you have a mixer? because if not that proberly £20 a day unless you can get a good deal with your tool hire company. And you dont want to be mxing those quantities by hand. If I was to lay them they would be layed on a full bed 50mm deep so thats a good couple of tonne of sand.
Also how are they to be jointed? Butt jointed or a gap to be pointed?
