I don't spend anything. When I cook dinner at night I always make double portions so I have a tub of cold curry/stroganoff/bolognese to hand, plus a 2l bottle of tap water.
If I'm working with staff I tend to stop for 10 mins late morning and 20 mins lunchtime. If I'm working alone it's just a ten min lunch break.
Nothing i take sandwiches, eaten on the go :)
No money spent on going to a sandwich /corner shop. - I grab a packet of oatcakes and a piece of fruit to have a brief break if i'm gardening - usually with a cup of coffee brought by my clients (lovely that they are) - I like to save my lunch money for a deli lunch out with hubby once a month or so.
Otherwise sandwiches with home made bread (I have a bread maker) and a bottle of squash!
Lunchtime is a full stop for 30mins and we 'hire' the toilets from a local nursery which helps me to provide welfare facilities. Customers nearly always provide us with tea/coffee/biscuits/cake etc throughout the day...
Fresh sandwiches/wraps made daily by SWMBO, plus the rare fruit n oatie biscuits if I've been a good boy. The fare usually changes in the winter with the occasional soups/stews in a handy flask with spoon attached.
Not totally idle on rising though, do make a flask of 'proper' coffee from the machine, and usually drink that at around 10am on a 10/15min break. Usually find any remaining coffee has gone cold by lunchtime, which is about 30mins, any longer and I'd become bored sitting in the van.
Used to buy bottles of water from Aldi/Lidl, but that was working out a tad expensive especially in the summer months, so now take a flagon of the finest the tap has to offer, mixed with just a hint of ribena, That's because being a Westcountryman I still haven't got used to the taste of the hard water around these 'ere parts, bleddy 'orrible it is.
My 'state of mind' is definitely affected if I go without the 10 o'clock caffeine fix. < twitch >
;)
A bit of both, however partial to a bacon buttie at a cafe near us :-)
What started this was the a debate in the yard as I topped up our supplies for coffe/tea etc as someone buys all there food/drinks during the day and I commented that he must be propping up the local shop !!
I do know I look for hot drinks/soups during winter esp when gritting etc
What do people do as the weather gets colder ?
most days its a packed lunch and fruit salad and a flask of coffee made by my lovely missus. Breakfast is always from the burger vans around my route and I always make sure my guys get their proper breaks.
10ish we stop for food, usually a burger van we are regulars at a few so don't goto dirty ones,or the butchers for hot pie or bakers, depends on area. only stop once, unless customers make tea, but if a long job i take tea kit and we have about 5 a day,
