Horny Handed Ton of Soil said:
Hi Neil
I used to own a Kilworth stone burier 90cm wide. It had contra-rotating blades and a serrated rear roller.
A great machine but two faults. One - soil can enter the holes of the roller into the hollow centre and if a little damp it will accumulate and ruin the finished surface . It also made the front wheel too light.
Two - My machine was a little to narrow - OK if you already had a true surface to work with but left an unevenness where the widths overlapped on occasions.
I don't think i'd fancy using it on an incline/embankment though with all that backward walking.
The video is quite surreal, I had visions whilst watching it that the last scene would include the machine reversing over the operator 'Goodies/Kenny Everret' stylee with a paramedic crew taking away a flattened landscaper in an ambulance!
I also reckon that you would still have to rake the area in the opposite direction (i.e. at 90 degrees to the passes) to take out any ridges prior to seeding/turfing etc.
I hire their turf-stripper from my local hire shop and find it to be very good also.
I have posted a question in the Hub regarding the stone burier (should of done a search first!)
I would really like feed back from anyone who has used such a machine and more importantly how is the new lawn looking a year or two down the road. My project is 10,000M2 and spending over £20K on just the turf I don't want to be be re-turfing large areas in the future due to insufficient prep work.
you can get them with a seed hopper.
Hello Neil,
This videos pretty good if the other one doesn't do the job:

Acacia provide hire of the Blecavator, which can also be used with a seeding box (not shown in video).
Hope that helps!
