Well done! I'm thinking of doing it this year, how long did it take and what was the process like?
I hope it leads to some nice contracts for you.
Justin
Altogether about 8 weeks but some of that was my lack of time, which was the reason i did it in the winter so i had more time! i suppose it also depends on the size of your company eg. employees and what activities you get up to eg. working at height because these thing need more paperwork.
That's brilliant news Phil..power to your elbow:-))
Congrats! Did ours in January!
Hi Phil,
I've been looking again at the Safecontractor process and thinking about my own set up.
To pass I think I will have to renew my emergency first aid for sure. What about other certificates? I have PA1 & 6 I got last year, chainsaw and tree climbing.
I know there are certificates for mowers, hedge trimmers and strimmers - would I need these?
Thanks
Justin
No, you don't need any of these certs Justin, its more about RAMS and H & S than training / qualifications. Good record keeping is a must also though.

Only comment I would make is that when selecting the type(s) of work you perform under Safe contractor categories, don't be tempted to 'tick' all boxes.
Every 'tick' brings with it an amount of RAMS stuff you need to put in place and be audited against.
So, for example, if you select tree works, you will need CS NPTC Certs, Insurance cover & RAMS to cover it.
Just review the work types sensibly and overlay what YOU do onto their work type categories.
Certs will only be needed where you select a type of work that needs mandatory training & certification.
Does that make sense :-) ?
Correct Gary. Sorry Justin, just checked mine, as Gary says, where mandatory certs are required you will need to supply proof of certs.
