I get about 25mpg in a 08 Transit, around 22mpg on a 11 Sprinter and around 25mpg on an 08 Ranger.
So i guess that none of these fit into your economic category?
I should add though that each vehicle will on average only travel around 6000 miles per year so are doing lots of short runs from cold, and traveling to and from sites which are very close to one another.
56mpg!!? my Iveco 35C15 tipper gets about 15-20 mpg and my L200 gets about 30mpg (without towing anything). I dont think any work vehicle is going to get you anywhere near 56mpg.
we work local so that helps to keep cost down
I had a transit van for 3 years and was getting around 27 mpg that was a mix of solo and pulling a trailer changed to a vivaro have had up to 42 mpg solo and around 34 pulling a trailer
Side Comment : One of the benefits of Fuel Cards is the ability to monitoir fuel consumption...easy to spot who floors it a lot when (via FCS) you can dice and slice your fuel card data online :P
There is stat around that says your fuel consumption decreases x% per 1mph over 70mph.
Need to find the article to see what x% is...
Often considered speed limiters..:-)
Best vehicle we have for economy is our 06 vivaro LWB, which is generally around 1/4 loaded weight wise / 250kg + driver and passenger will return an average of around 35 - 38MPG.
It is used on long motorway runs mostly. A full tank from empty is £100 and that will get between 520 - 600 miles dependent on conditions.
It is the 2.0litre 90ps euro 4 engine manual transmission. Its by no means fast but keep it at 70mph and it is efficient.
Far better on fuel than our previous merc vito or either of our current transit 350's.
Better than my old mk5 golf gti as well!
Only way youll get that sort of MPG is by going for a small van like a new combo 1.3D or something dual fuel on LPG may work as well.
i have a 1,9 t5 transporter ,we get over 40 mpg out of it without too much kit in the back
Nissan Navara D40, averaging 18-21 mpg towing the trailer and 29 mpg without. Diesel is my biggest expense.
At some point in the far far future, I will consider buying a van or a tipper, and keeping the Navara for journeys to and from the yard.
I like to be able to stand up in the back of the van so our sprinter's ok there but it only does around 20mpg - I believe the new Mercedes Citan will do 65mpg - comes in three wheel base lengths
My Fiat Ducato gives 33mpg lots of stop start
so not bad
