FAQ's on lawn care

Hi All,

I'm new to LJN as a member but have been a regular visitor to read posts for a few months. I'm from New Zealand and was wondering what your most FAQ's on lawn care are so that i can study up them before spring.

For example- How do you get rid of moss?

Thanks for any help.

To know how to get rid of moss you need to know what causes moss

  • Hi Boyde

As a franchise of Jims mowing does your franchisor not inform you of what products to use to help remove moss then how to address the causes off moss

The main  man for Jims mowing is based up in Scotland does he not help you out?

  • Hi Lawn Lover

Yes he does as do other Jims, but the question was an example question that you may get from your customers rather than a question in it's own right.

I would like to get a broad idea of some of the things that may be asked of me in the future so i can be prepared and it would it not be amiss of me not to use the vast knowledge on LJN to help me in this learning.

Basicly i'm looking for subjects to study up on.

  • Boyd there is so much information on this site already, have a search, spend a few days on it. It's a bit cheeky asking for a list of answers on lawn care if you're just starting up as you need more than simple answers; you need to understand why, where, what, how and when, and that's where previous discussions can fill you in.

  • Thanks Dan

It wasn't meant to be cheeky and i wasn't looking for the answers just the questions so that i could research them myself as i come from research back ground in sports science.

I was trying to just get a starting point.

  • Boyd no two days are alike you will get a plethora of questions so I will give a short list for you to run with.

Can my dog /cat / rabbit use the lawn after you have put your feed /weed control down.

Do you need a licence to spray that stuff.

    When is your next visit.

Does the feed need watering in.

Its raining is it OK for you to apply your weed control.

Next door do not use a lawn feed company why is there grass better than mine.

Whats that weed called there it will not go away.

When can you scarify my lawn Autumn or spring witch is the best time.

I always cut my grass this short why should I let it grow longer.

Why do I have to water my feed in, the woman across the road uses another company & they don't need to water there's in.

What is all this thin red stuff on my lawn.

Why is my grass green on top but brown when I mow it.

How often should I mow my lawn & why.

Do you want sugar in your Tea

    Boyd,

Never apologise for asking a question no matter what type of response you get on here.

At the end of the day LJN is a network of like minded professionals who can/will provide answers, support and guidance.

Some will give more freely than others but take it all in, digest it, use it and ensure you give something back in your own way.

It may take time but a bit of clever searching with various terms  and you will find a lot of relevant information to consider.....

    Good luck.

  • Sometimes it appears that the original question posed by a member is lost, even within the first few responses. All Boyd wanted was examples of questions others are frequently asked, this time concerning lawns. The guy's  come over from the other side of the world and  just wants some information, forewarned is forearmed.

There, even I've added this without answering his query. I think Lawn Lover has given enough examples to start with.

    Good luck Boyd.
