If it's got any size numbers or a manufacturer on it, it should be possible to track one down....
As Neal is no longer with Etesia but remember from previous comments these were a custom made belt.
So, I would strongly suggest you have a word with DerekTucker at Leigh Park Garden Machinery or via their website : https://www.mowerspareparts.co.uk.
Derek is a Supplier LJN member, a really helpful guy and knows Etesia kit well 👍
Thanks Adam and Gary. I have contacted Derek via his website so will have to see what happens there. It is indeed very much a special belt, spent hours trawling various v belt / power transmission belt manufacturers websites today to no avail. My thoughts are now turning to a modification that will keep the machine alive somehow. Suggestions welcome, perhaps a rear axle swap ?
Hi All
Derek is right, this belt was very special and was made by a sub group to Mitsubishi who closed the section once the attilla was moved to hydrostatic drive (last product made using this type of belt).
It had a woven center to it which was reinforced with cylinder steel studs and a rubber sectional profile, I have spent years trying to find someone somewhere who could copy this (as guys in our head office have also done) and there has not been one place who could come even close, no off the shelf belt will last more than 5min in the vairiator unit before it is destroyed.
unfortunately this has now given the extremely old AV88 & AV85 machines fitted with a vairiator unit the label of scrap If this unit was to fail and the only option would be a conversion over to hydrostatic drive which will replace the whole rear axle to the one used on a current ak85 or av88 but this will require extra modification taking the cost sky high beyond the value of such a very very old machine.
If You are reading this replay and own one of the machines using this belt then there is a way to increase the life immensely so long as the belt is not to far gone already.
these belts required tensioning every 50 hours of use and this is the main reason many machines needed new belts fitting because this was never done, if you follow this rule your belt should last beyond the overall life of the machine but if you don't then the belt becomes slack and receives extreme wear resulting in breakage.
if you have no instruction on how to do this then please contact myself at Etesia or your Dealer who should be able to help you out with this
