Dry Stone Dyking

By way of comparison I'm looking for rough dry stone dyking prices. If possible per sq m for supply and erection of an average 300-400mm wide wall. Say stone was locally sourced access was via our dumper already on site. Tray already dug by our machine. If anyone can be more specific the wall is to be 600mm high and is a retainer so will need tie-ins etc. 13m long.I think that's everything. Any questions just fire them back.CheersNeil

  • HI Neil you say stone is locally sourced what kind of stone is it?
  • Don't know your locality at all. A similar project down here - using the standard slate formation. 12 tonne load should suffice easily, (we pay between £215 - £260 for 12 tonnes). To build the wall, (including the cost of the stone) assume £60 per square metre faced for a retaining wall. This may help but the stone type is the major factor in this as vhowe says.
  • The stone is a buff sandstone. Not necessarily sourced locally, just say it is for rough price guide. I need to find out where the stone coming from. Using a contractor for first time down here in Ayrshire, don't have former contact with any though. Can you recommend a stone dyker vhowe?
  • We do a lot of stonework. Garry is away this weekend but I can ask him to give you a ph Monday I'm sure he'd be happy to discuss.
  • That'd be very much appreciated. Thanks very much, I'll look forward to that. May be out of reception on Monday some of the day but will call back if he leaves a message. Thanks again. Neil
