Yes, all our vehicles are covered by breakdown policies. Fleet polices we looked at are too expensive, so we chose policies that get the van to OUR choice of garage (ie do not have a 10 mile limit like most) and will get the guys home or overnight accommodation no matter where they are. Also covers cost of returning to collect if necessary.
We've plumped for the Tesco policies (now underwritten by RAC) for each vehicle - taken out online, but you do get a discount on a 2nd vehicle.
The cover is against the Van, not the Driver which suits as better as the guys swap as needed.
Hope that helps?
The cost is roughly £50 per vehicle with discounts given for extra policies.
I always cover vehicles even if new as you never know what might happen. Earlier this year water managed to get into the fuel system of an 08 Transit which required new filters, injectors to be taken off and the tank drained. I am still drawing water off via the water trap in the fuel filter 4 months on!

Thanks for that chaps, will look into that, I take the point of gettig the van to the garage, had that problem before!
I had a Tesco policy out on our van lwb transit. I phoned to adjust something on the policy on the van and was told since the RAC took over they no longer cover vans with sign writing.
They rembursed all our payments to a total of £600. Not sure what your vans are but best to double check.

Interesting.
I will follow that up. We've been with Tesco Breakdown for years, including during the change over to the RAC underwritten scheme.
We have had them out 3 times in last 4 months due to a series of issues on 2 vans and all our vans are sign written. To date the service has been good. The only query has been when its a Van they get twitchy about GTW or GMW or whatever it's called (3.5T limit in case they have to tow you....)
I do know that the 'same' service direct with the RAC is a/ more expensive, b/ has a lot more exclusions & c/ they don't like 'businesses' using them. They try to push off to their 'business/fleet' department.
We use the AA after having been let down by green flag and the RAC in the past I more than happy with the service and price the AA offer.
Clearly no one service fits all........
Martin, were you ever subsequently refused service due to that "issue" or was it only just at renewal time it came up ?
With winter coming up i was getting my van ready which included phoning Tesco just to double check my details with them. They told me that my van was no longer covered by the new RAC policy due to weight and vehicel livery.
I explained that i was not told about this change in details to which the manager was put on the phone and promptly gave me a full apology and my entire back dated payments!!!
