I thought that was a good price till I typed into Google.......... £212....... http://www.worldofpower.co.uk/stihl-bg-86-c-e-27-2cc-petrol-garden-... and I'm sure there'll be other places too. Thought I paid about £250 a couple of years ago so prices seem to be going down! The only snag is that Stihl won't sell over the internet unless you're a regular at the store you're using so it might not be worth the trouble if you have to travel some distance
I was able to register with an online Stihl retailer by sending copy of my business insurance, proving I was bona fide landscaper. Speak to supplier and see what they require.
Why not pay (very) little extra and support your local dealer. Helps to have a good relationship.
Cheers,
Tim

Stihl hand over policy further restricted

Personally I have always bought my Stihl kit of my local dealer. D. Williams & Sons, Swansea. Built up a good relationship with them. A few years back they let me have use of their BR600, while I had one on order.
FR Jones have a great reputation and many, down in this area, use them.
I find Stihl GB's attitude over this face-to-face 'dealer' requirement a little condescending when dealing with professional Contractors. It is a shame they do not commit the same energy to engage more effectively and directly with Contractors as they do in the USA and elsewhere.
Come on Stihl.. Man-up

I wonder if this face-to-face requirement is really there to stop everyone just buying the cheapest they can find online which might eventually put all their smaller dealers out of business. This could eventually lead to a complete breakdown of all the Stihl dealer network throughout the uk.
Nope, Stihl are quite clear as to the reason. Surely we could not be that cynical and I am sure they would not use H&S as an excuse...ahem....**cough** ;-)
"As of the 3rd June 2013, Stihl amended this policy to further restrict how we are able to sell their products online:
Stihl feel that the best service to customers is achieved through face-to-face contact with a Stihl dealer. This ensures that you are sold the correct machine or product, with proper instruction, and you are familiar with all the important information regarding safe operation. Unfortunately, this hand-over policy does not allow us to supply Stihl products bought online and delivered by courier. This applies to all Stihl products, from chainsaws, to gloves, to children’s toys and everything in-between."
Can't imagine the issues with Stihl Toys being misused by Contractors......
If your dealer won't 'deal' so to speak then is he really worth supporting ?
