I bought a hayter. Cheap thing for terraced gardens light enough to carry alone

  • Lightweight aluminium folding ramp fits in van or trailer and won't snap like wood may.

To be honest I'd pass up the opportunity and find a simpler job if you can.

  • Definitely do not carry a mower down steps – far too awkward and carrying awkward objects is a sure way to cause a back injury. We have one garden with just 4 steps and made a simple wooden ramp, which is kept tucked away on site.

  • I agree with Phil. If there's a chance of back injury from awkward lifting pass it by or cost in some form of ramp to leave on site.
  • With Phil on this one, if you injure yourself severely here you won't be able to do anything but think I should have passed up on this one!!

Leave it and find a simpler job in my opinion this is not worth the hassle
  • Hi Andy yes there is more than one but it's on a route where there will only be one one on this particular job , need to work out away Phil as it is a fantastic garden.
  • This is the worst job we have for access!

We use a small Hayter which, with two people is okay but not ideal. On the days that only one person is out in the van on this route it gets strimmed and the lawn doesn't look too bad for it.

Personally if it was a better area, I would seriously consider leaving the mower on-site. God only knows how the client use to get his mower up and down the steps - he packed up mowing it himself when he was 80!!
