Artificial lawns

Afternoon, I am a contractor based in the Exeter area and within the last 3 months have twice been asked about artificial lawns. I managed to talk them out of it the first time, but now realise that this may become more popular. Does anyone have any recommendations for contractors local to me? or advice about installing it?:-)

    Approved Grono artificial lawn installer

  • Hi Kerry,
I have followed some of you projects with interest and you certainly do some 'pucker' work, by the looks of things.
The area I need to quote on is about 50m, I know its not easy to give figures off the cuff but any idea of a ball perk figure for you to do that size area, for a mid range artificial grass

  • Hi Jay

As a LJN member I can confirm that your cost for the 40mm Grono lawn at 50sqm will be £1080, thats £18 per sqm to you.

You must also consider the delivery at £60, adhesive at £48 per 10kg tub.

The materials for sub base, waste, stanley blades, course sand brushed in to assist the pile stand upright, and labour.

I trust this helps, for any further assitance give me a call on 01626 332533

    Cheers

This does appear to be a growing industry as I have also been asked about it a couple of times recently. Does anyone know what you should be paying suppliers per square metre?

  • Brilliant cheers Kerry that gives me something to go on with ref to drawing up an estiamte for that element of the job. Should I get the work I would be interested in having someone along to act almost like a consultant to see how its done. I am more than happy in preparing the base and levels etc, just not convinced about how it gets fixed in place. would you be happy in doing that for an agreed fee?

  • If your saying you want to pay me then im in...... which route are you thinking of preparing? wooden frame? Not advised, it'll rot too quickly.

I'm all for 100mm sub base consolidated, and steel trowel finished concrete at 3mm below FFL (finish floor level), core bore holes for drainage and infill with pea gravel, then you can adhere the lawn to the concrete.

take a look at this for some guidance.

    Yes, me.

To install in your county would mean a travel rate included within the price.

  • I wasn't thinking that concrete would be needed. I was going to go for compacted scalpings with a screed of sharp sand over the top. I was going to fix down the edges, which will be flower/shrub beds with something like Everedge and finally brushing in some kiln dried sand on top?
