first off the best way is to be a poular serch choice
to do this try contacting other websites which have some link in the sector you buisness is in and get them to link exchange to your site and you link to theres
another thing is like forums online google not only logs the site name but some of its content on its pages so when working on your index page try to string as meny commen serch words into you paragraphs as possible and even link the word to a wiki page if you can
another is to pay google to put you at the top but i wouldnt bother as it will cost a futune normaly if you site name is as uniqe as possible and well laid out with plenty of visits you should make your way up the google ladder
just want to get to where more people will notice website dont think people always go as far as page 4 website is
www.ashlandscapingandmaintenance.co.uk any one any pointers on it much appreciated

Hi Brendan
I think a lot of it is down to keywords. I've just had a look at your home page and the word garden does not appear on it. Also, to the right of the picture, your services are an image rather than text (if you know what I mean).
I hope this helps.
all the best

Your website ranks for exactly what you are telling the search engines you want to rank for. One quick example your services page - you are saying you want to rank for services ash landscapes and bingo you are #1.
Hi,
There are lots of ways to feature higher on google like adwords, Google shop etc.....
This is all well and good but google is also quite fussy about how it views your website, how your pages are laid out, page load times, language level and so on. It sends things called crawlers that visit your site, review them and know where items are placed and on which pages, so when people use google search it knows which websites to return in the search. The better, more user friendly the website the higher it will feature, the more it features the higher it goes.
Another thing to ensure is that Google has a copy of your site map.
Have a look at google webmaster tools. It will review your site and highlight any areas for development.
