I'm having to go down the battery pruning route due to persistent tennis elbow and associated issues. Here in Ireland there are very few companies that deal or have any great demand for these battery shears/ secateurs and thus industry expertise is quite limited.
Presently looking at a Bahco BCL24 if anyone has any opinion to share on it, it has a large bite up to 45mm. Stihl don't sell their offering here. Pellenc prunion 250 ~double the price of the Bahco BCL24. Infaco and Felco have no dealers here either.
The Bahco is definitely cheaper than the competition. My uses would be winter fruit tree pruning, spring coppicing willow, tidying up cuts and various other things such as rose pruning etc. The maximum 45mm diameter cut could also be handy for processing smaller branches for kindling wood etc.
Bit long winded but as I said local expertise not great. Had a brief chat with an apple orchard proprietor who said all the expensive ones were good!! He had no knowledge of the Bahco.

Quite a specialised tool practically anywhere, I would imagine! Contributing to a general lack of local knowledge. Hopefully the blade speed of the more expensive new types is better than the old powered models. I had a pair and it took too long for the blade to re-set after each cut. Only a fraction of a second but slowed me down compared to manual secateurs. If the ones you want are unavailable locally maybe could some get sent by mail order.
The speed of cut is an issue alright, maybe saving the battery secateurs for the thicker cuts. For coppicing 2/3 year willow growth might be a slow bicycle race!
Can't help on the pruners. But after 40 years hard work I developed severe tennis elbow, bought a copper wrist bangle which within a couple of weeks of wearing made the tennis elbow disappear totally never to return, wear the bangle permanently. Got to say I got one on the recommendation of a friend in the trade and was extremely dubious at what I perceived as smoke and mirrors !! Probably no science behind it but it works. Give it a try. Lot cheaper than powered pruners !!!
Interesting, I read that proof is limited scientifically but willing to give it a try. What sort of bangle did you get?
Just plain bangle, most chemists sell them
I was given a pair by a client becasue she thought hers were so good - from memory they were from Bosch. Yes they worked fine, but so bulky and so so slow. Getting them into the right position (versus a pair of sharp Felcos) was a challenge, then you activate them and it takes long seconds to make each cut. FIne for a few cuts by an eldery client, but totally useless using them professionally.
THe tool that did revolutionise the speed we worked through an orchard was the Stihl GTA26 - a fantastic bit of kit
I see the cordless Bosch ones online alright, good bit cheaper and clunkier. I'd expect the Bahco and other more expensive ones to be quicker and lot longer battery life.
Don't like to sound pessimistic but can't help wondering if its a better bet to change careers if possible when you've a health problem which will probably just get worse if you carry on with the sort of work you're doing, possibly leading to you becoming seriously disabled. i'm getting some arthritis these days in my hands and feet.... mind you I'm 70 and been doing this work for some 45 years........... so thinking I'd do better to switch to something less stressful to the body. Can't face "retirement" as I actually quitre enjoy working!!
The body needs constant minding as we get a bit older that's for sure, discipline required!
Don't go for the sealey ones I got 2 pairs and they have not lasted the season. I have had to send both pairs for repairs and even when they are supposed to be returned working they won't even cut 12mm stems.
