You got to laugh

40 mins ago I had a knock at the door. The wife answer as I was busy as ever in the kitchen. She opened the door, and was asked outright, could I borrow your husbands strimmer as my grass has not been cut all year and my partner wants to do it now 8:30pm ish. Professionally and politely my wife informed the woman that under no circumstances do I lend my equipment out. The woman is someone I know to smile and say hello to that rents a property up the lane behind my house. If I had answered the door I would have thought it was a wind up, but being polite maybe I would have offered here the brushcutter at a deposit of a tad over £800.

Made me smile tonight. 13 years in business and never cease to be amazed.

  • I have to say - Ive been asked for my equipment, it went like this>

Hi Scott, Can I get a shot of such and such, we don't have the money to pay you, but we would do it ourselves if you lend us it.

and as friends or otherwise that they were, I refused on the grounds if they broke it, I am out of work for that piece of equipment. I do it or go and hire one. tough!!

As you say Ryan - some people never cease to amaze.

  • at least you ddnt get "Oh I bumped into your farther the other day, said you were a gardener"

"oh, ah, a quote? never mind"

I get this, as my dads a builder he gets around abit, I get phone calls like 'your father tells me you do a spot of gardening' or 'Iv been told you garden in your spare time'

No its my job I do it 6 days aweek 10 hours aday lol. When they find out its my business they tend to forget about it, probably has to do with price again lol.

In there mind im guessing 'a spot of' and 'spare time' means free labour.
