Yellowing turf

i laid some turf about 3 weeks ago onto a fresh top soil/rotorvated old lawn combination. The turf has started to show yellowing on the tips of the leaves in the last few days. Since turfing we’ve had ample rain to stop it shrinking and it has never dried out. There has been several frosts and several days being exposed to the snow which may have damaged the young leaves.

Can anyone else offer some other explanations.

  • Don't worry, it will be fine.  Looks a bit long for new turf, but will be better for a cut or two when  the conditions are right.

You could try giving it a hit of Iron that would help strenthen it and green it up.

  • Low strength iron or a liquid seaweed feed would probably give it a boost

Looks to be just the tips. If the whole blade becomes yellow or more and more grass becomes yellow it would indicate a root/ feeding issue. The young turf is likely to have suffered from the frost - especially if watered/ wet then frosted...it will grow out once the weather & soil temp. is consistently warmer...
