  • Friday 21st we have our Christmas dinner and a few beers, our lads then have a full two weeks off, which is taken as holiday, until Monday 7th Jan.

Suits all - the lads are quite happy with a winter break and know where they are. I like it, because(apart from wanting a break myself!) it is the least productive time of the year and it suits our private customers not to have people round during what is probably their holiday.

  • tomorrow at lunchtime when my son finishes school, - and I go back when he starts again on the 7th Jan. - A full 3 weeks off to spend with family is fantastic at this time of year, - I can't take long off at the easter hols, or as long as i'd like in the summer, so for a few weeks I take long walks, eat well, and recuperate which makes me raring to go again in the new year.

  • We finish on 21st with a Xmas night out and close down, other than emergencies, till the 2nd. This is what we have done for last few years and is additional to annual leave for the team. Probably over generous but they work very hard the rest of year and are great ambassadors for my business.
  • Fri 21st for us too. Most of the guys off for 2 weeks. Agree with Colin, it seems to work all round.
  • i find january is a good time for a break especially after christmas clients dont seem to fussed about there gardens...  more important bills to pay than their gardens ,so i take my holiday.  4 more days to go, then got 4 weeks off for me..

  • Im a bit like this too, finish this thursday 20th and off over christmas and new year and then off somewhere hot and sunny on 6th january for a week.

This year we have officially 2 weeks off from the 21st but we are also on call for Heathrow in case it snows.
  • Our largest customer is shut down from the 21December until the 2 Jan so we take a good chunk of this as holiday.

  • Sort of wound up already, most of this week is popping in to clients for a coffee and a chat. Something I like to do, it often gives me the chance to mention some ideas for winter work projects, and I usually end up with some nice bottles of wine as well!

I'm officially off from Friday until the New Year, no-one expects me to work between now and then, just as they don't expect me to take weeks off in the busy season.

The only reason we don't turn up on Christmas Day & New Years day, is to give our clients some privacy, otherwise we work throughout.

Holiday, what's a holiday, when the gardens are flooded or frozen is when we have a time off, the rest of time, we need to work.
