I have never done it that deep. Usually about 5cm. Bark maybe a bit deeper because it is larger.
Yup 50-75mm, it won't completely suppress weed growth without a membrane, but the weeds are easily pulled out.
I put on as much as I can within reason. The more I add the less weeding maintenance I seem to have. And I use bark over wood chip because a) it looks much better and b) when I do go into the bed to weed off I don't get any splinters. Regards-Helen

Was aware about the fresh wood chip and nitrogen issue, in the big bed it's just a tree and a couple of shrubs. No perennials, annuals, etc.
As it's for a quote just working out how much I would need.
