Why does BNQ, Wickes, Selco and Homebase sell Orange fence panels with green posts?

I have my own supplier that provides a nice brown colour, anyway but the other day i was short on 1 x panel and 1 x post, saving going back to my supplier that was 15 miles away i thought i would go to BNQ, Wickes, Selco and Home base as they we close. But they all seem to supply ORANGE Fence panels with Green posts? They look disgusting!

Why do they sell crap!? LOL.. Tell me if i am wrong here?

  • because joe public wants stuff cheap, so they buy cheap crap and sell it to them. Hence why when you do a quote for fencing using decent stuff they think you are taking the mick because theyve priced up banging in a few metposts, with cheap posts and rubbish panels when they were last in one of the diy sheds

  • I view it the other way. Their over-priced rubbish is so obviously poor value, so the good quality materials I get at trade prices are worth a premium to the customer. A trellis from a "superstore", that falls apart before it's been scanned at the checkout, is about the same price as my local trade specialist, so with a reasonable mark-up it's a bargain to the client.

Assuming you are marking up the B&Q products to cover your costs in the same way as trade products, of course.
