because joe public wants stuff cheap, so they buy cheap crap and sell it to them. Hence why when you do a quote for fencing using decent stuff they think you are taking the mick because theyve priced up banging in a few metposts, with cheap posts and rubbish panels when they were last in one of the diy sheds
I view it the other way. Their over-priced rubbish is so obviously poor value, so the good quality materials I get at trade prices are worth a premium to the customer. A trellis from a "superstore", that falls apart before it's been scanned at the checkout, is about the same price as my local trade specialist, so with a reasonable mark-up it's a bargain to the client.
Assuming you are marking up the B&Q products to cover your costs in the same way as trade products, of course.
