  • I used one of those on a client's garden a couple of years ago as they had their own. Ok as a slitter I guess, stimulate roots, but that's about it. You need more than the max weight on there to really get any results. The build is flimsy though and won't last long if used by a contractor.

  • I had wandered about the different towed equipment, better sticking to petrol driven manual machines.

    I have a towed solid tine aerator (called a westwood  lawn groomer i think) that i have used quite a lot in the past behind a countax. It is not easy to use on small lawns and in awkward places due to all the shunting about that is needed. It does an ok job and is very quick on the right lawns but i found i had to put a 56lb weight on top of it to get satisfactory results in hard ground. Also you have to remember that big heavy machinery is a cause of compaction - the very thing you are trying to remedy!
