More one for the sole traders among us, but as per the title really - what would you do if you could not work tomorrow - or maybe for three or four weeks?
How would you cover existing customers, let alone keep the business driving forwards?
This is something that has been in the back of my mind for a while, more so at the minute as I spent part of my 'leisure time' horse riding and am currently working on doing progressively higher jumps/show jumping practice... Horse riding itself is classed by many as a risky activity and indeed it can be, jumping in particular offering the potential for some fairly nasty accidents.
Yes, I know, I could be 'sensible' and give up the horses, but to be brutally honest I enjoy it and that's not going to happen...
So I need plan B - hence had a job advert out for a while - certainly attracting fewer applicants than I expected, but it is in my mind that should I be 'out of action' for whatever reason, the would be someone there to at least cover the existing work, even if the search for new work was scaled back a bit for a while.
Anyone else ever think about this scenario?

Keeping yourself fit and in reasonable shape is all part of being your own boss, but cutting out what you enjoy, will bring you grief of a different nature. So the answer is to expand to cover all eventualities - it's not as painful as you may think as work brings in work and you will not shy away from larger contracts. Your earning potential will increase as it is near on impossible to earn anything like a decent living working on your own at our game.
Keep doing what you enjoy in your leisure time - all work and no play makes for a very boring life.
