What do you do when it's peeing down?

Here I am sat in my van sheltering from a heavy rainstorm bored out of my mind, so thanks to the technology of 3G and an iphone I am surfing the net looking for advice and tips (It's how I found LJN originally) just wondered what you do? (Keep it clean folks!)

Tea!.... knew I'd forgotten something this morning......my bloody flask.
  • Depends what im doing, if im doing border work (weeding, prunning, digging over I put my wet profs on. If it rains and im mowing, hedge cutting, tree work, I stop as i dont want all my expensive equipment to get wet and accidents start to happen.

So if im using dangerous tools I stop, if im doing menial jobs I continue.

  • Hello Andy

I don't work in the rain.

    Helen :-)

  • Ashley may I ask just what part of your work is lowly & degrading (menial)?

  • Started to rain here at around 2pm so got a lot done by then. I was worn out by then anyway, just a couple of hours digging borders left on that to do tomorrow if it's dry.

I don't like working in the rain, I don't feel I can get anything done properly.

Hi Helen, sounds good not working in the rain. Unfortunatley I'm with Ashley when hoeing and weeding I get on with it, mowing and cutting run for cover! Having said that the other day I had to get a lawn done......I have never been so wet!
  • I'm a real wuss in the rain, I used to work through it years ago but not now. We've had the most frightful storm here this afternoon, just as well I was having a day off. Sunflower seedlings are now fodder.

Must admit this afternoon was thunder and lightening so hiding was the order of the day!
  • Rainstorms are best to be sat out and paperwork/accounts dealt with.
I head to the local macdonalds and enjoy the coffee with one eye on the sky...
light rain though is a doddle to work through most days cutting grass

  • Macdonalds sounds like a good idea. Not a fan of working in the wet, or snow for that matter. Usually can find a task which keeps me under cover.

Rushing to cover up work and valuable kit in this showery weather can be a nuisance.
