Is there not a bit of bindweed runnning along the grounnd you could put it on? A bit heath robinson but I've put some in a sandwhich bag and elastic band the bag to the bindweed before and it worked fine.
there is a round up gel exactly for this purpose -- not very cost effective but easy to apply
If you can manage a low-pressure spray without hitting the hedge (ie, clear stem) then a triclopyr base dspray would knock the bindweed and not kill the grass (as long as its well-established).
Failing that - weedwiper with glyphosate in to 'paint it on': HERE

Not so much using the weedwiper but certainly a risk from spraying. A 'sticker' adjuvant not normally required or label recommended for triclopyr sprays as its already oil based in most cases. Thicker spray would not guarantee 'no drip' .... sorry might have to be a manual pull it out to get rid of the worst then a spot of painting on new shoots at the base.
