As a business owner, Would you monitor staff performance with wearable gadgets?
On the face of it, due to the often disparity of working locations and distances travelled, the landscape and gardening industry is perfect for adopting wearable technology.
There are immediate and obvious positives and negatives.
The positives are that you can work out which employee is most suited to a certain task enabling you to deploy staff most efficiently or help an employee understand where there's room for improvement.
Some might see wearable technology as an intrusion and invasion and perhaps a breach of rights (I'm sure the latter will be contested legally).
In certain circumstances I can see any negative data being used to )metaphorically) become a whip with which to beat with.
I am sure we are going to see a great deal of development in this area of technology. Even embedded chips are being trialled.
There are already a vast array of recreational trackers available. Professional and amateur sportsmen and women are using them to analyse their performance and are using the data to improve competitiveness and fitness.
